Crystal Lake Elementary Library Media Center

Vision: Crystal Lake Elementary Library Media Center fosters a community of learning and literacy that leads to high academic achievement, independent reading and learning, and collaboration throughout the school.

Mission: The mission of the Crystal Lake Elementary Media Program is to support the needs and provide for the intellectual, social, and personal development of all students, teachers, administrators, and the school community by:

  • Providing physical and intellectual access to information in a warm, stimulating and safe environment.

  • Providing instruction, learning strategies, and practice using ideas and information for effective learning.

  • Integrating the library program throughout every student’s education through collaboration and advocacy as evidenced through a varied field of services, equipment, print and non-print materials.

Book Check Out at Crystal Lake Elementary

The Media Center at CLE supports and maintains the databases for many computer programs in use at our school site. Students are welcome to visit the Media Center at anytime during the day for book check out and return.

There is also scheduled book check out one time a week for each class. Kindergarten students may check out one book, grades one through five may check out two books. No student may check out another book or renew a book with an OVERDUE library book. We do not charge fines, however students must be responsible for the books loaned to them and they are responsible for the replacement cost of damaged or lost books.

Laptops needing repair for students in grades 3-5 can be brought to the media center during the school day after help desk tickets have been written by teachers. Our MCSD Educational Technology department repairs and maintains these devices. If there is a fee for damages to laptops, it will appear in individual FOCUS accounts under Billing.
