🍎LEAVING A LEGACY🍎 Last night, Superintendent Michael Maine and the Martin County School Board celebrated the career of Felix A. Williams Elementary Extended Day Manager, Kandy Gilbert. Ms. Gilbert has served the Martin County School District for 32 years. She started her journey as an Extended Day manager at Jensen Beach Elementary School, but has been part of the FAWE family since 1994. She provides more than a safe place for after-school hours, she also enriches the lives of her students by teaching them new skills. Over her 32 years, she has made meaningful connections with her students, many of whom have gone on to work with her as Extended Day counselors! Thank you for being so dedicated to the students in MCSD over the years. We wish you the best in retirement, Ms. Gilbert! #ALLINMartin👊

☀️ SOLAR ECLIPSE SAFETY ☀️ Reminder: At approximately 1:48 p.m., Martin County will begin to experience a partial solar eclipse. This happens when the moon passes directly between Earth and the sun, momentarily casting a shadow and blocking the sun's light. Martin County will not experience a "totality" like other parts of the country and can expect to see approximately 51% coverage of the sun. It is NEVER safe to look directly into the sun with the naked eye. For more information on how to view the solar eclipse next week, please visit: https://www.martinschools.org/article/1532351

🍎CHOOSING THE BEST🍎 During an Emergency Meeting held this evening, the Martin County School Board voted to add Martin County High School and Jensen Beach High School to the list of approved Controlled Open Enrollment schools for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. This means in AND out-of-county residents can apply to ANY MCSD-operated school during the application period that will open tomorrow, March 1 – March 31. For high school students, applications for signature programs are no longer required as part of the Choice process, but must be completed if your child would like to be considered for entrance into a signature program. ℹ️Students accepted into a Controlled Open Enrollment choice option must have their own mode of transportation to and from school. Students are not required to renew their applications annually and will be permitted to attend their chosen school through the highest grade level offered on the campus. ➡️Learn more: https://www.martinschools.org/page/office-of-school-choice #ALLINMartin👊 #MCSDBetterTogether💫 #PublicSchoolProud
