🍎CROSS-CURRICULUM INNOVATION🍎 Several elementary school teachers engaged in professional development to increase student outcomes of project-based learning. The goal of this optional training was to identify numerous avenues to incorporate multiple subjects into one project, while also increasing student 'voice and choice' options! By integrating more academic subjects into one project and providing different options for how students complete that project, students can experience a multifaceted approach to learning, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of their units! Teachers from Citrus Grove Elementary, Crystal Lake Elementary and J.D. Parker Elementary attended this professional development session hosted by MCSD instructional coaches Mrs. Register and Mr. Beasley. #ALLINMartin👊 #PublicSchoolProud #MCSDBetterTogether💫

🧡💚Appreciation Post💚🧡 The entire CGE staff wishes to thank our amazing PTA. This week they organized volunteers to create a holiday parade float, help in the cafeteria, and run a VERY busy Holiday Shop. It's difficult to find background-checked helpers for one endeavor much less three in the same week! The Holiday Shop, and other fundraisers run by the PTA, provide fun activities for students, such as Trunk or Treat and Sailfish Splash events, but that's not all. Our generous PTA also supplements the curriculum for our school! Lexia was purchased for Kindergarten through 5th grade students to enrich our ELA materials, and 👏👏recently IXL was bought for 1st-5th math practice.👏👏 We could not provide these apps for students without the support of our PTA. While we thank our PTA for the organization, management, and creation of the programs they provide, as well as the NUMEROUS hours of time they donate to us, we know that they are indebted to all of our families. The financial support of our Diamondback community is noticed and appreciated!

Trent Wilson, with MidFlorida Bank, was a guest reader in our kindergarten classrooms today. As part of the bank’s Gift of Reading initiative, each student was given a copy of the hardcover book he read to keep! We appreciate the business partner connections our community provides. Thank you, Mr. Wilson and MidFlorida!

Celebrating Veterans Day
🍁THANKSGIVING BREAK UPDATE🍁 The Martin County School District would like to formally announce students and teachers will have Nov. 20-24 off for Thanksgiving Break. As noted in the Instructional Calendar, Nov. 20 and 21 were designated as emergency makeup days to ensure our students would receive the instruction in the event the District had to close schools due to storms or other unforeseen emergencies. The District has had no such situation creating a need to make up instructional time; therefore, those two days are included in Thanksgiving Break for students and teachers. The Martin County School Board approved the 2023-2024 School Calendar during its meeting on Nov. 22, 2022. To view the calendar, click here: https://www.martinschools.org/page/calendars #ALLINMartin👊

CGE is spreading our spirit with local business partnerships! Ms. Rynca recently visited the Newfield community site, which will soon be developed by Mattamy Homes. What is Newfield? It’s a planned community north of our school on Citrus Boulevard which will eventually include 4,000 home sites. James Fitzgerald, with Mattamy Homes, and Nina Shirley, with The Dirt Academy, presented us with plants, fertilizer, soil, and 50 containers that will beautify our campus and benefit Club Go Green. MCSD Superintendent Michael Maine and Chief of Staff Jennifer DeShazo joined us to celebrate this new partnership. We look forward to continuing our connections with these local companies. #MCSDspirit MCSD Professional Learning Department #MCSDBetterTogether Martin County School District #WeareCitrus

📆HURRICANE MAKEUP DAYS📆 Reminder for families: Hurricane season doesn't officially end until Nov. 30. As we near the end of the season, we want to remind Martin County families of the scheduled Emergency Makeup Days built into the 2023-2024 School Calendar. We are also nearing the first set up Emergency Makeup Days on our Instructional Calendar, which precedes Thanksgiving Break (Nov. 20-21). These days may be used to make up instructional time in the event we need to close for one or more storms. IF we do NOT experience any emergency situations or storms requiring us to use one or more of these Emergency Makeup Days, those two days will be added to Thanksgiving Break, giving students the week away from school (Nov. 20-24). At this time, that appears to be the case. If we experience conditions that would necessitate making up one or more school days, we will provide notice of the appropriate date(s) to families and employees as soon as possible. The Martin County School Board approved the 2023-2024 School Calendar during its meeting on Nov. 22, 2022.
