Elementary, middle and high school students in Martin County recently competed in the 2023-2024 Martin County Regional Science and Engineering Fair, where their innovative ideas shined.
Students were awarded for their science or engineering projects in categories such as Plant Sciences, Robotics, Environmental Sciences, Systems Software and more. Secondary-level participants also competed for specialty awards, including the Yale Science and Engineering Association Award, the American Psychological Association Award and the United States Air Force Award. Students who competed in the specialty categories won more than $500 worth of prizes.
Nearly 200 students from more than 90 classes participated in this year’s Martin County District Elementary STEM Fair. Each participant received a buy-one-get-one ticket to the Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast.
Palm City Elementary School’s Talis Brinn (Stop Right There Erosion!) was awarded the Florida Association of Science Teachers (FAST) STEM Fair award and received $25.
Port Salerno Elementary School was awarded Best Performing School.
More than 80 students submitted nearly 70 projects in the secondary competition. Sixteen Martin County School District secondary students earned a spot at the State Finals in April.
